Right, given that we're starting to collect a few skins here and there, I figure we should go about sorting them into some sorta order...
There are 10 skin slots for the A-10s and 9 for the F-15.
I propose we keep DEF-1 on both planes available as generic "normal" skins, then allocate the rest out through the guys who regularly play LO.
Anyone knocking up a skin for [T&T] afterwards can then make sure that we're using skins in unique slots, so there's no overlap.

I've just figured out my *dss problem.. bloody file names again.
So here is the dss version.. much smaller and at 1024x1024 and only 850KB as opposed to the 12.3 MB file adove :cool:

How'd you install using *dds files? I've only mastered putting skins into the TempTextures folder :)
As for the USAF markings, the numbers on the tailplane etc - they're automatically added by the game, I think. They don't appear on the skin and the numbers dynamically alter with the plane's position within its flightgroup.
Going to knock up a generic [T&T] skin for #2 for both planes, I think.
Ultimately we should get a skin for everybody who wants one and compile them into a single [T&T] skin pack...

Belay that, worked it out and tested it. You have to have the texture size at the original 1024*1024 for it to work properly, and I hadn't. God I wish this thing came with documentation!
Have finished a generic T&T skin, and re-done Epoch's personalised one too. The colours are darker (damn thing still looks ridiculously shiny though), and I've added the T&T logo under the canopy.
TO INSTALL:
First, open ModMan and uninstall Epoch's skin if you installed it that way last time. Then, delete files in your Bazar\TempTextures\ folder if they're named:
A-10-OKRAS-L2
A-10-OKRAS-L3
A-10-OKRAS-R2
A-10-OKRAS-R3
(But leave everything else alone). This should clear out previous copies of the skins.
Then download:

And place them in:
C:\Modman\Addons_fc\
Then open ModMan and install them both.

Do you have Photoshop?
You need the Nvidia tools plugin. found here http://developer.nvidia.com/object/photoshop_dds_plugins.html
With this installed you can create *.dds files. (through save as)
Take your regular *.bmp and save it as filename*.bmp.dds
example: A-10-OKRAS-L5.bmp.dds
And then use ModMan in the same way topackage and upload.. modman sorts it out for you.
Modman can compress to .bmp.dds, so I've just used that option for the two skins above. Will grab the Nvidia tools tho, cheers for that :)
^^ i saw that option.. but TBH i didn't believe it would do it right, lol, not sure why.

Tommy - it works fine, to be honest. Turns out I had an older version of the Nvidia tools already installed lol, just with CS2's massive supported format list, never noticed the .dds option.
Either way, s'all good. Almost done tinkering with my BA F-15 :)

I have taken the liberty of re-packaging Wes' MooCowMoo F15 and scary pink Hog into new DEF slots, so they fit the pattern. Both of them now use the #4 slot for their respective platforms, and have been re-packaged with the same naming structure etc.
Also Tommy, your skin wouldn't install using Modman for me; I've repackaged it and tested, for some reason it wouldn't write the textures into the .cdds files. Double-checked it and it now works; have uploaded using the same name.
We have 4 A-10 and 4 F-15 skin slots remaining. I currently need to find a good skin to adapt to use as the "standard" [T&T] F-15.

Having some problems - lot of the skins seem to be interferring with each other.

Righty, have worked out how to get them all working with each other.
It seems using some slots corrupts the others; once you have something placed in slots 2/3 for the F15 for example, slots 4-9 will show the wing and fuselage textures of those other skins. Nothing I do seems to change that.
As such, it looks like we've got ONE F-15 slot remaining - #1. I'll pop a generic [T&T] skin into there soon. We *may* have a second one remaining, but I haven't determined which slot it is yet.
I think we've got at least TWO A-10 slots remaining, if not three. Only one of the remaining slots is corrupted by the existing T&T skins, but of the others, two slots will always show the same thing. (If you put something on Desert1, it also shows on Desert2's slot.)
SO:
With that in mind, I've repackaged *ALL* the skins into one pack to install them all into useable, workable non-bugged slots.

If you drop them into the \ModMan\addons_fc folder then install them through Modman.. i think that's the easiest way.

thats weird.. as thats what i did.
Downloaded & saved it to the **:\ModMan\addons_fc folder.
When i opened modman, modman had it listed in red, first i uninstalled the previous skins and then installed masaq's comp. They all installed, with no problems.
Not sure why it didn't work for you??

Not showing in the preview screen either just that fecking cat. And something about size aswell. looks like it's installed though, fingers crossed
Yeah, couple of them are different sizes to the default ones (1024^2 instead of 2048^2), so the game freaks out and doesn't put them inside the .cdds archives, but inside the TempTextures folder instead. Should still work.
*Grin* I meant to put only the cat's face on it (like my avatar on these forums), but I selected the wrong file (full-frontal cat instead of polite cat) and well, decided he looked good up there :p

Had a chance to check the skins out, impressive and i like the BA one :eek:
The A-10 ones from me were just a generic template I downloaded; just chose the camo colours and added the T&T patch and Epoch's name. Bit of tinkering with a few of the decal-type layers too, but that's about it.
The BA one was also downloaded; in the end I decided I only liked the colour scheme and not the panel lines etc. Downloaded another template and then manually altered the panel lines etc on the BA skin to look more like the other. Also added a bit of weathering and some grill panels, stuff like that. Also tinkered with the nosecone/radome - plain blue and white was okay, but I like the blue/white/red :)
I'm still having a play around, see if I can manage to actually skin up a set of tiger stripess for the F15. Not sure I've got the skill to do it though; working out where the joins between the body and the wings are would be a nightmare.
