I'm busy trying to set up a server for us to use tonight. Fingers crossed.

I've also looked into a 'proper' dedicated server. Cost would be about £50 a month.

That dedicated; would it be able to run PR and LOMAC or would we be looking at keeping the PR running on the Multiplay shared server still?

If we went dedicated on PR, I'd recommend a unix box. That would rule out Lomac.

In any instance, I wouldn't advise sharing Lomac and PR. The reason for this is that Lomac has to be running, graphically (in a window) in order to act as a server. I believe that would have an adverse affect on any other games running on that box.

For Lomac I'd suggest the 'Lite' server listed on this (http://gaming.multiplay.co.uk/dedicatedserver_pricing.php)page. I'm still trying to ascertain from Multiplay what the best option would be for dedicated PR. I think it's between the Pro, and Pro 64.

I need educating here....

Why would we need a LOMAC server coz:

One of us hosts

or

One of us runs a spare pc as a server - I have 4 pc's in my household alone!

We don't.

But running the server on a dedicated machine, hosted by a provider or one of us, is preferable to one of us hosting AND playing on the same machine.

Last night for instance, I had a problem and had to wait nearly half an hour to fix it cos I didn't want to end the mission for you and Masaq.

I'm happy to host on my spare connection whenever possible (assuming I'm around).

Ok finally got a server up and running on my other connection.

Masaq and I tried it last night, and it wasn't bad at all. We were both pinging 60-70ish. Masaq was pinging lower than me, which is a bit rotten since I'm sitting right next to the bloody thing!

Would like to try it with a few more people if possible - perhaps tonight before we embark on a PR session ?

T'lass is on another night shift tonight (think I'm in her bad books; I forgot she'd said she was possibly going to swing by this morning and left my front door dead-bolted. Woke up at 11am to find a ton of missed calls from her at 8am ... oops!) so I'll be around till god knows when.

As for Friday night drinkage, no bugger's back to uni yet so my night is empty for LOMAC and PR :D
