Yeah seen that. Basically, it's an attempt by the evil forces at EA to force feed impressionable kids with advertising.

saw it yesterday, looks like team fortress with the chunky cartoony toons.

Sad, very sad.

I for one have zero interest in this "Free" game. LOL

Note to EA/DICE:
Get to work on BF3 and don't waste time on this useless and stolen idea.

It's TF2 for Battlefield, basically.

It's one of EA's ventures into purely gaining revenue for a game from ingame advertising, rather than game sales. So its success wont be measured by any quality benchmark, but by how many tards play it (the Sims anyone?).

If it does prove popular then this could well herald alot more ingame advertising in gaming as a whole (as more and more publishers seek ways to prop up their profit margins).

Its actually pretty good, I've seen quite a bit of it at work and it is nothing like Team Fortress at all so not sure why you're all moaning.

Well EA is pretty much already filling their games with in-game ads. The real gimmick with Battlefield Heroes is doing what has been proven to be a huge success in South-East Asia, micro-transactions.

Basically you can play the game for free and have some fun, you'll see some ads sure. But if you want a fancy outfit, or weapon, or ability, then you need to buy them with real money. They won't cost much, maybe 1 or 2 quid so many people can afford them and will buy them. That's how they'll make a lot of money. Then to make even more money all this stuff you buy is only available to you for a limited time period. Like 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days. Depending on how much you paid to have them. And that's how the game will continue to create revenue.

I've been following it pretty closely too and it looks like it'll be an absolutely hoot. EA admit that microtransactions will grant bonuses to some players, but they understand 95% of players don't want to spend cash, and they're trying to balance the game in the favour of the majority.

I know that'll be met will a lot of "Yeah right "'s, but let's just see? It's not like we have to buy it to play it, or anything

errrrr.... its free!

The micro transactions won't give anyone benefits over another, they are literally things like character customization. The "ads" mentioned are not in-game either so thats hardly an issue either.

Whats the point in arguing when we all have the same opinion?

IT'S LAME!

If you like a game you will pay for the upgrades - mainly aimed at players who get a kick out of that sort of thing imo.
