right im going to get lock on next month for my birthday
But i have no stick i have been browsing and found a few
but im on a budget any recomendations that cost no more than 40£
well i'm no expert...
but when i got mine i was on a budget and i got a Logitech 3D pro
It works fine for LockOn and Bf2 etc... it has a throttle and HAT and loads of buttons.
LockOn configured it all for me. It was very easy. Of course the serious flight sim fan would turn their nose up at the stick. But i've been happy with mine.

If you are on a budget buy something like this:

This is the stick I use & have had it for 7 years!!
Admittedly I am thinking of an upgrade but it still does the job more than adequately - especially as it has that all important hat switch!

Well, after looking around for a joystick, I think I'm going to go with one of those Logitech 3D Pros :D
Looks the part, heard some great reviews, cheap.
Brill :D

I broke one of them Com, but then i yank my joystick quite hard :p
Now i use a logitech Attack 3d, not the pro version so it doens't have a hat switch, but does the job.

lol - Knowing how hard you game sometimes gunny I can just imagine you snapping the j/s in half after a moment of 'frustration'!!:D:D
imo the old sidewinders are substantially more robust than most - but who cares - I wanna an X52 so I can be uber pilot like epoch..;)
:D
Hark at epoch with his uber leet expensive WOOT headgear and Track IR.
Still doesn't stop you getting shot down by friendly fire. Which is about as friendly as having a cactus rammed up your botty spines first :D
And that bloody joystick X52 is FOOKN EXPENSIVE
Doom -
I had a MS Sidewinder (still got it). It's about four years old (if not a little more, actually). They're good sticks, very nice big base so it's pretty stable. Four buttons on the stick including the trigger, four on the base.
I replaced it this week with a Saitek Cyborg Evo, which cost about the same as the Sidewinder did when I bought it. It's got ten buttons - six on the the stick - four on the base, and two SHIFT buttons on the base that allow you to pretty much treble that number (although god knows why you need 30 buttons configured). It's also got a HAT switch, which is a godsend. It's also a much nicer throttle than the sidewinder, much more resistance so it's harder to accidentally cut power mid-turn. It's got a twist-rudder as well, not perfect but it's pretty handy when playing a serious sim like LOMAC.
So, if you're going to BUY a stick, I'd get the Evo. It's a really nice bit of kit, not sure how durable it'll be - it's more complicated than the MS one, so it may not last as well - but it seems pretty good, and especially for the money - about 29 quid.
On the other hand, I now have a MS Sidewinder sat doing jack all. I was going to either keep it for games like Battlefront 2 that are more arcadey than a proper flight sim, or drop it off with my brother at Leicster next time I pop to see him. Since he's discovered what a real social life is since he got to uni though, he's stopped gaming seriously, and wouldn't be fussed about not having a stick (he's not had one since I moved out four years ago, and he never got round to buying one yet lol).
So yeah, if you want a MS stick for nowt PM me your address and I'll box it up and mail it this week. If you want a much better stick for thirty quid, go grab a Saitek Evo :D
