-New Commander Feature: SAT Guided Air Strike
A SAT Guided Air Strike can be designated by the Commander to further the improvements to Close Air Support. With this new function the Commander can select any location on his map and request an Air Strike at that location by Jets and Helicopters equipped with laser guided ordinance.

This IS NOT The same as a JDAM as this is detailed as a seperate feature and is also NOT laser guided bombs/missiles

Just tried on a LAN server as commander and seperate from a CAS marker you also have 'Attack Coordinates' option - after placing one of these the commander says 'Marking target!' - my guess it it will place a target marker useable by bombers the same way as soflam marking but done via a GPS.

Thinking about it I can now imagine how this would be useful - If it works how I think it works - imagine for example a bridge that needs destroying - there are no squads near it to soflam it, CO brings up his GPS view, zooms in and picks out a structure (in this case a bridge) marks 'attack coordinates' and then the air crews fly to that position and can lock on and drop a GPS bomb - it's not as accurate as laser guided but still hella-useful - I think basically this is a small JDAM - according to Wiki they are GPS guided.

if there is a choke point you could put it there to hammer the enemy just a thought

You got it right, Katash.

Commander can place a laser designator via the map as a a set of GPS co-ords for the jets. It's not very precise so you need to use it on a fairly large target- the BOMB is just as accurate (it's from the same plane, after all) but the marker itself isn't - think about placing supply drops in BF2, that kinda accuracy via the map.

It's pretty useful for when you know there's a tank next to a flag, for example. You can get a shot or two onto him without him having the chance to mow down infantry.

The mod is now going to be at its finest in clan-only matches, I think. In pub games it's just getting too complex to really take full advantage of every aspect, at the mo.
