Eh ok.
so I moved into my new flat about 3 weeks ago now while having to put with 56k for a month, fair enough... Had to wait 2 weeks for telewest to get off their arses and install my BB, ok, can accept that, Broadband up and running - nice. I go, make myself a coffee and prepare to sit down for a session of sof2 - it'd been so long, the anticipation was unbearable, it seems. I join the nXt server, keepin it fairwars and that.
Was playing for literally 1 minute. I kid you not. when...

BANG! - my f$*kin motherboard blows, AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!

cruel fate, why do you mock me?

see ye in 2 weeks, maybe, hopefully the dodgy bloke on ebay that i bought the comp off sticks to his warranty.

cheers

You sure it's your motherboard ?

Maybe just the power supply ?

Im not totally sure tbh. I mean, it turns on, so it cant be the power supply. and it doesnt like taking any graphics cards, so im thinkin it aint the card. It turns on but doesnt boot, doesnt turn on the monitor, suppose it could be the proc? should i get a msg if its the mobo?

:(

Christ, there's a lot of thigs that could be wrong there!! The only thing that would go 'bang' on a mobo (really) is a capacitor. If you can't see any exploded components - and a whole lot of fluffy fibres everywhere - then it might not be the board. You're not gonna see a damn thing on the monitor if it's the processor, either. But take the fan off the top of it and check for discolouration around the centre of the cpu. Might be an indication that it's burnt out. As far as the power supply is concerned, whip it out and open it up. Check all the glass fuses in there, coz they CAN go bang (talks from experience).

Hope that helps

...anyone want to add anything? hehehehehe

I figured that instead of breaking it more - which I am VERY good at - I just sent it back to tak advantage of the warranty. means i'll be out of action for another week or so unless i can get my other hunk of sh*t working...
I quite this laptop i'm using, its all portable n stuff, hope my flatmate doesnt kill me like...

Now did it go BANG or just bang? Because my daughter goes BANG after a feed, then just bang when she's sitting on you (yes i will be making lots of references about my new born daughter on every thread i post :D )

If it went BANG then yer fooked

If it went bang then yer still fooked.

My advice, don't poke metal objects into it, or invite some ppl to go round the blokes house and seperate his legs from his hips, but thats what i'd do :D
