It is reported that Epoch failed to report for duty last night.
It is highly suspected he is learning how to operate the avionics of the F16!
Come back Epoch & we will forgive!

Actually, epoch was having a hell of a time getting his PC to start Windows.
I installed LockOn, which includes 'Star Force' copy protection. Vista detected Star Force was old and not compatible and pointed me an a new version. I duly installed it and Vista was happy. I then installed a LockOn update - which included an earlier version of Star Force - and Vista was NOT happy and refused to start.
Finally got on TS at about 2am which Sadist_Cain will confirm!! Thank heavens for restore points and safe mode.
Will be on tonight.
Bin the game, thats put me right off it if it's that much of faff to bloody install and get going.:eek:

The problems were my fault for not paying attention to what I was doing. I'm an IT Professional, therefore I don't RTFM.

Don't blame the game, blame bloody Vista - Steaming pile of turd.
As for system restores; I don't trust them. The last 2 times I've used it, it's got rid of EVERYTHING that isn't a folder.
It basically left my PC with a shell.
Either that, or when I restore I end up with a copy of EVERYTHING.

Oh, by the way, if you have good speaker/surroundsurround, the fly past view delivers a lovely roar - much better than any other flight games I know.
I'm really impressed with it. The graphics are good, and I understand there's a lot of textures & stuff you can download and add-on.
It is a little more complicated, but as a MS Flight-Sim veteran I'm not too confused by the 'flying' side of things - engines, flaps, trim, navigation etc. So the real learning curve is radar and weapons.
Tis fun though.
Wonder if it would be ok on winxp which, lets face it, pisses all over vista and will do for millions of years to come.
Com do you have xp? Might have to invest in it possibly

yes mate - it works fine on xp unless you have steam powered pc which I know u don't!:)
Only steams when it gets angry lol. Thinking of upgrading again soon, bigger chip and more ram
Gunny - lock on will be fine on your PC.
Commando - stop work, go home, and install!!

Ok mate, reinstalled it!
Amazing how smooth it is compared to a couple of years ago on a different puter!
Also, loads of add ons available as well.
gonna hav a little play with it this afternoon!

Yes. Commando hasn't got Gold. I've uninstalled down to non-Gold.
Right bought it today from evilbay for a couple of squid, basic non-gold version. should be here Tuesday

Which is good because i don't have the kids wed- fri so can concentrate on trying to fly and get the hang of the controls.
Flying's the easy bit.
Not getting shot down - that's the challenge.
Oh - and as you can see in the Gallery - landing's not a doddle either.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but aren't you meant to lower the undercarriage when landing lol :D

Added a couple of screenies in gallery.
Worked out the mavericks, how to repair,rearm & refuel - can even land 9/10!
Those little man portable AA missiles are gits!
Mine will be here tomorrow :) Shall bang it in and practice.

I think I've got landing sorted. It's all in the approach ;)
I've read and read about the Mavericks, but they still rarely lock on - I must be doing something wrong but f*ck knows what.
Refuelling and rearming on the ground - found that in the instructions!! RTFM FTW !! :p

With any luck my copy should be here in a couple of hours, first class from Leeds yesterday morning :D so fingers crossed, then i can crash and burn.
