He's lost now Gunny, you dont have vista admin privilages so he will not listen to you at all. The vista will have already linked its rss feeds into epochs brain constantly updating his mind with things of no relevance.... I guess Epoch is so under the spell of the Vista beast that by now he'll be randomly crashing at any time. The means he will have facial injureries as his body shuts down and he falls face first into his perhaps flaming brandy.... the consequences could be catastrophic

We must save Epoch!!! Vista will have taken away his drivers to move, speak, blink and make vulger hand gestures so he'll be powerless against Vista destroying his house and reformatting his girlfriend and car into inferior file types that wont work with anything... thus reducing her image quality to Maggie Thatcher standard and his car into a reliant robin.

It cant happen it just can't

Wow I went on a little there, I dont happen to have vista would help if knew what the problem was anyway though?

Epoch whats up with yer vista?

I don't have Vista.

My question is whether others do, and in particular, 64 bit.

Took the plunge. Installing now. As an IT professional who makes a living supporting desktop operating systems, I thought I really should have the latest!

It's installed well. Only one unknown device (MIDI for my Audigy 2ZS) but that should be easily sorted. Runs like shit off a stick but I haven't stuck my last 1GB in yet (only 3GB at the mo). Fingers crossed.

System spec: Athlon X2 5200+ / 4GB / Nvidia 7950GT - so should be ok.

Of course, if PR is borked, Vista's in the bin.

hmmm,IT professionals - it took my IT dept 5 months to install a docking stn for a laptop!

Obviously not the outfit you work for! ;)

I too will take the plunge once you guys have beta tested it 4 me

Maybe I should have advised something like Driver Magic or Driver Pro to backup your drivers first, it's very useful if you are switching OS's, trust me... I KNOW!!!!

Update: BIOS reports 4096MB yes OS reports 3582MB.

Known issue with 32 bit operating systems (not just windows).

Googled - have tried enabling PAE to no avail. Not bothered about it at the mo. Wouldn't have this with Vista 64 but didn't want to take that plunge.

EDIT: Oh, ditched MS Office in favour of OpenOffice.org. It rocks. And it's free.

Thought you had got the 64 bit version?

No. Emma's dad lent me his 64bit Home Premium to try (I think I'd have gotten a couple of days from it before needing to register).

I did lots of googling and decided that 64bit wasn't worth the move just yet. Both 32 and 64 bit Vista Ultimate are the same price (just under Ģ100) but I opted for 32bit. It's not a problem getting 64 bit sometime next year if I decide to.
