Hi,

Have you made sure all PtP/file sharing programs are turned off?

Are you on a wireless connection/hard wired? Using a router? Other family members using the connection?

Checked your ISP for known problems?

Turned off all unnecessary programs that might be eating your bandwicth (task manager or even at startup via 'MSCONFIG/startup'?

Checked your firewall settings? (to see if a new program is accessing the connection)

Try to connect to other UK servers to test your ping - it may tell you if your connection as a whole has deteriated or not (seems a big loss in performance to me)

Lots of advice for testing/improving your connection here:

All I can think of for now - no doubt one of our pro IT guys will be along to help soon....

BHD, 256 is a bit slow nowadays, i'm surprised anyone is still at this speed (no offence)

As Commando says make sure anything in the backgroud is killed, this includes anti virus softeare, windows updater, realplayer updater etc etc, even msn messenger. Any downloads you have going off, turn them off.

Do a system scan for a virus or spyware as this will slow your connection down aswell.

Also check that the game is manually PB updated. I can't say this enough as it can play havoc with your game if it isn't.

Does anyone else use your internet connection at the same time as you such as siblings, parents etc? Is it wireless or wired?

I have, 3 computers in this house, this computer is hard wired, the rest are Wireless, um yeah 256 kbs is almost the highest internet speed around here nowadays, i turned off all Internet Eatters, like msn and xfire when i start to play.

PB has just been upated. Most clients will not auto-update, so do it yourself using the pbsetup tool at Evenbalance.

Also - EA/Dice are currently experiencing master server issues. This is the cause of the server crashes over the past few days. It will also cause some players to be unable to log into their BF2/2142 soldier accounts (while some still can). It will also cause random player disconnects too. EA/Dice are working on a fix.

So - update PB definitely. After that, sit back and wait for the crash like the rest of us... if you can sign in at all ....

Just reinstalled and updated PB and it now works fine. Probably what Epoch said about master servers and login in issues was my problem.

Looks that way for now. I know i was fine until sunday night when it took me a dogs age to log on after 5 attempts.

Yes, it's EA.

But please still check your PB is up to date by using the pbsetup utility from the Evenbalance site.
