CTDs are most commonly caused by corrupted mod files so try removing PR> restart> remove BF2> restart, then do a total clean out of everything (CCleaner is a very good for that) and theeeeen do a total disk defrag, (diskeeper has a free trial for such occaision, better than windows defrag)

If you have a serious gremlin chewing your wires (banner im thinking of you here :P) then have a stab with abexo registry cleaner (free) and/or advanced windows care V2 those should tidy up any strange registry entrys that could possibly cause CTD CCleaner has a registry cleaner built in also.

Do all of this, turning the pc off at each stage, be very clean methodical and thorough to ensure NOTHING is left, then try a clean install BF2 test, turn pc off, PR test and then PR patch. if things are still hell maybe a new download of PR and the patch

I almost sounded like I know what I'm talking about :P

Also if you're loosing key packets, that's a punbuster problem and needs to be updated manually.
There's PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe that need sto be running aswell.

Theres also things like windows security update which can bugger it up, although this was making bf2142 unplayable until microshite did a fix, anti virus kicking in, messenger kicking in, opening console if your pc isn't good enough aswell.

and dont forget your graphics drivers - remove them - use a cleaner to delete all related files then install a stable driver version.

If all of this fails hit puter with a large hammer until it plays normally.......
