Some may have, some may not have, cracking little racing game, main problem is controlling the bugger unless you have a brilliant steering wheel.

I've been toying around with my old PS2 controller hooked up to my PC via a "PIII Converter Model:538" and I'm using the right stick for throttle and braking and the left stick for steering.

steering deadzone 25% saturation 100%

Acceleration deadzone 25% saturation 100%

linearity -1, going lower seems to numb the steering down a bit i.e. the opposite of what the instructions say

brake deadzone 0% saturation 70%

worth getting a handle on things in demolition derby then some open wheel stuff and if you're feeling brave a bit of the pro tuned malarky but if anyone has this and fancys some online shits n giggles sometime make it known!

Cheers Cain, i'll try those settings.

Yeah i'd be up for some online action... i need to get some practice in, big time. Or have a serious handicap.. as i'm shocking at this game.. (i think i need to turn down the 'real' handling etc)

Is this Race Driver:Grid?

If so, I'll be up for some action too.

Never managed to sell my steering wheel & pedals on ebay, so might as well dust them down and have a go.

TrackIR support too :D

Epoch, Tommy and I had a lil blast tonight. Great laugh, more fun than I expected from the game and had some nice tight lil racing moment along wth a lot of funny spin outs.

Overall a very underrated game I reckon, probably due to the nasty learning curve to keep the begger in a straight line.

More motoring madness to be had shortly I bet, come join chaps :)

What's the chances of getting it running on the dedi? can imagine lag being an issue with a couple more of us

Was fun indeed, except for Tommy's clear display on how NOT to be a gentleman. :p

There is no dedicated server for this game I'm afraid, so that's a 'no' to sticking it on the box.

Yeah it was fun...i'll have to set up a TS button on my controller, that way i can gloat as i sail past you.

All my moves were clean.. epoch i have no idea what you are talking about! I'm outraged!

Another game to distract us.. :D

Myself, epoch & cain had a quick game of this last night... was good fun.

Its a good driving game, with seemingly a good multiplayer side, (no dedicated server), decent graphics with trackir 6d support.

You can get it off Steam (19.99) or cheaper elsewhere, game.co.uk (http://www.game.co.uk/Games/PC-Games/Race-Driver-GRID/~r334241/) have it for £6.99 *for Click & Collect* or £9.99 for Download.

So who else has it and is up for some head to head T&T action... with a grid full it would be a real blast.

At 9.99 i would be tempted but alas i lack a gamepad/Wheel to use and i somehow think the keyboard would suck.

Unless i can somehow jerry rig my joystick into playing it =P

Good to see there's a fair few here up to it :D

Doom do you have a PS2 controller? if so then you can get an adaptor for it for literally a couple of quid, that's what I use:salute:

Merged the two GRID threads together.

Been playing this a LOT recently (I've even gone up to normal difficulty :D just means I have to restart twice as much :P)
I must say I'm stunned at how underrated this game is, sure it has a steep learning curve but my lord when you put time into it the results are brilliant!

Raced quite a few events and eventually the money hit the mark that let me create my own team.

Raced through about 9 events now at a few races per event.

I have 5 cars, a stock racer, a jap ricer, open wheeled, a chevvy tourer and still got my first baby the Mustang Boss (the car you see in the background at the main menu) all paid for with money from the events.

Tis my 3rd season racing and I've only just got my B license for europe, at the end of every season there's an opportunity to race in Le mans 24hrs for another team, or you can enter your own team, I'm just saving up the money to get myself a good runner :P

winning races get you sponsor offers, they start small naturally, after a while you get big names like Dunlop, Goodrich and so forth which pay you mega bucks depending on what place you finish (or if you finish at all) and it's quite groovey shuffling around your sponsor decals on your car too :D

Buying and selling cars is excellent, you can buy them new or off Ebay (product placement ftw!) when buying the used ones you've gotta watch out for the miles it's done obviously but also how many wrecks its had (and ergo how many times its been rebuilt) and how many wins the car has, if there's a lotta wins there's bound to be a reason. I got an awesome deal on my Chevvy tourer off a rival team and the thing goes like stink.

You can also choose to sell your own cars outright or leave them on Ebay for a while, choose how many events the car's listed for, a buy it now price and a starting bid and fingers crossed you'll get a good bid for it!

Without a doubt the best part I've encountered (so far) is that I've now just got myself a co driver. you choose between a selection based on skill, personality, agression, awareness etc. and they each have different demands for payment.
It just brings a whole new aspect to the gameplay when you're not just racing on your lonesome, you're now racing in a team, with a teammate you chose, in a car you bought. You start to find yourself helping your teammate, giving him the space to overtake and so forth, and he does the same! moreover he'll talk to you much in the same way your pit crew boss does and much like the pit boss it isn't useless babble, it's relevent stuff.
It's brilliant when you slip out and a rival zips past you. my buddy Giano Fazio goes blistering after him "I've got him!" he says, it's just so dam kewl :D

The team management aspects of this game are epic, it in no way detracts from the racing aspect of a racing game but definitely enhances it, you start recognising the drivers names and the teams they race for and the style they have (watch out for the two knob jockeys in the Orange vipers, dirty tactics!) and when you go into a race you start feeling like there is a lil dude watching you from the pit lane and talking through your headset, he isn't useless, you're thinking about nailing that sponsorship deal so you can buy the better car, its just great :D.
I highly recommend you take the time to bash the hell out of Pause>restart countless times to get an eye in and enjoy the career mode.

Cool the 5 of us should have a race..

oh and Cain stop practicing, you know it wont help, right!

I thought it was easier to get a pic with inserted spelling mistake, saves me wasting any of my time mocking you.

Sounds like we've got a game chosen for our next big non-PR night... who's up for a race on either this coming Sunday, Tues or Wed?

I have no wheel so I'm an entirely keyboard-based driver. I actually find it's not toooo bad, although the handling is much more tricky than it is in DiRT:2.

Freddy Chickenbatter

I'm in for any of those days and I too am a keyboard driver

What version of the game do you all have installed dont want to patch to the latest if you all havent

I'm up for a race. I'm a force feedback wheel and pedals man myself, though for some reason I find myself mainly in the gravel.

Or up Tommy's arse

(Any predictable replies will result in a ban :p)

I'd grovel to make it to the gravel. I am most-oft found with my car in pieces strewn around the track.
