Since I see a little interest in MMO's on here, I would like to bring this game up. Daoc is one of the first real MMO's, and have been running for over 7 years now. It's quite outdated(like bf2) in graphics and engines, but the gameplay....! This game, is the most team orientated game there is. Teamplay is the key to everything in this game, I have played many teamplay games in different genres, but this one tops em all, and im still playing it, on and off.
A little about the game; Its a realm split game, the only real realm split game. Hibernia, Midgard and Albion. Every realm have their "inland" areas where the enemies cannot enter, and the ofcourse look and act as the part of the worlds as the realm names induct. But what makes this game ever so fantastic, is the RvR(Realm vs. Realm) that takes place in the frontiers, which is areas linked to each realm where there is keeps and towers, that need to be defended against the enemy realms. There is no contact to the realms, no chat or pm's. Only ingame emotes. The RvR part is very demanding, this is no WoW or WAR or any other MMO, it is really really exceptional. In the game there is casters, healers, tanks, light tanks, hybrids, stealthers, and each realm has its own races and classes, so its not like youre a hibernian celt blademaster fighting an albion celt blademaster. But each realm has "equals" with different benefits and downsides. Very well balanced and 100% team effort/communication based awesomeness.
Atm. All expansion packs and everything, is FREE. The game doesnt have 2 million players, the community is serious, where one have to work for his name if he stands individually. But working with friends in guilds, having fun in both PVE(Player vs. Enviroment) and RvR is what really lures.
Anyone played it?
