Hey guys,
For those of you who have purchased Grand Theft Auto IV for PC, here is a little game that we can play in multiplayer via the 'Free Mode' gamemode option, dubbed 'Police Persuit'.
Why don't you just play Cops 'n' Robbers?
Cops 'n' Robbers is a game mode that spawns a team of cops, and a team of robbers, and gives everyone a gun. The objective is to eliminate the enemy team, and as soon as you've done that, the game's over and you have to mess around with start up times again.
I think we can all agree that blowing up vehicles with guns (whilst in a vehicle of your own) is pretty easy, and that's why we don't just use the game mode Cops 'n' Robbers.
What's the main point of Police Persuit then?
The main point of Police Persuit is that a team of cops perform a vehicular persuit on a criminal(s) with the main objective being to get the criminal(s) out of their vehicle and apprehend them, by means of shooting them, before they fulfil their own objectives.
But you just said no guns - Can you simplify this for me? I'm confused.
Here are the ground rules:
Player ratio must always be 2:1 in favour of the cops.
Weapons MUST NOT be fired within a vehicle.
Weapons SHOULD ONLY be fired when out of a vehicle; and individuals 'on foot' CAN fire at vehicles (This allows 'roadblocks' to be set up by both teams, and also allows the criminal(s) to make a last ditch attempt at freedom when the police are about to shoot them (in order to apprehend them).
If a criminal's vehicle becomes immobile/destroyed, they CAN steal another vehicle.
If a police officer's vehicle becomes immobile/destroyed, they SHOULD ONLY resume the chase if they find, or jump in with another police vehicle.
The game ends if the criminal(s) is killed, or if the criminal(s) completes their objectives (see below).
Police should attempt to bring criminals to justice by ramming their vehicles off the road/into a state of immobility, before exiting their own vehicle and gunning down the criminal(s) on foot.
For the purpose of the gamemode involving Player vs. Player combat, NPC police must be turned OFF.
What are the criminal(s) objectives?
The criminal(s) objectives can be anything you all agree upon, I have provided some examples below:
Having broken out of prison (Alderney State Correctional Facility), the criminal(s) has secured his escape from Liberty City by means of a helicopter; so long as the criminal(s) can navigate themselves across all three islands and take-off from Francis International Airport.
Having recently committed heinous crimes within Liberty City, the criminal(s) must now weave through Liberty City in an attempt to evade the LCPD until their 'Too Dangerous To Persue Any Longer' policy (a time period of your choosing - 5 min, 10 min, 20 min etc) kicks in, and the LCPD are bound by policy to cease the persuit, as the high speed chase is simply forcing the criminal(s) to driver more wrecklessly and at higher speeds which is a threat to the safety of Liberty City's citizens.
In Conclusion
In conclusion, no guns whilst in a vehicle, guns allowed whilst on foot. The main idea is cops try to perform P.I.T.T. stop manouvers, rolling roadblocks, or plain ramming vehicles in an attempt to run the criminals off the road, but the game can be played as you wish. There's nothing stopping the criminals staying put and holding out in a building from the cops!
Comments & suggestions welcome! :salute:
