Well ive been residing on the Overclockers.co.uk forums for a while pricing up a new build system for the end of october.

Anyway the reason im posting this is because of this:

I'm Planning to buy the below items

Intel Core i7 860 2.80Ghz (Nehalem) (Socket LGA1156)
MSI P55-GD80 Intel P55 (Socket 1156)
Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM
G.Skill Ripjaw 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C7 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit

Now I found the processor £10 cheaper elsewhere and the HD £5 cheaper but with postage the saving wouldnt be above £5 difference than if i bought everything from Overclockers.

Anyway I opened a pre-sales query with them about pricematching competitors on these products or a bundle offer for me.
Also bear in mind ive never bought from them before!

They replied that they cant price match as they have warehouse overheads that some competitors dont have but they could offer me a bundle offer just for me.

Each individual component from OCUK would come to

£554.88 inclusive of VAT and the £9.50 postage (next day standard) (£545.38 without postage)

They just got back to me.

£526.99 Inclusive of VAT and with ANY postage method I choose! EG saturday post or guaranteed next day morning delivery (which costs about £15)

So theyve taken off £28, £9.50 of which would be basic postage leaving £18.50 saving on the components!

When i purchase I will take guaranteed next day morning delivery meaning that between the premium delivery option and component costs ill be saving a max of £33.50 approx (£15 of that being the delivery option)

It also means i dont have to take time off work to accept delivery or worry about the delivery not coming before i goto work.

Thumbs up from me OcUK!

I would recommend them after my experience so far!

Yep, great so far because the want your money. Try getting a refund or chasing up an order, and good luck. They are shite soon as they have your cash. I bought a PC from them and had a rather frustrating experience for months trying to rectify things.

A lot of people have complained about overclockersuk on the bit-tech and the old custompc forum as well.

I wouldnt use them at all now, Ive used them a few times but their pricing is soo much more than scan, and their customer support is nothing compared to scans well reputable support.

See how much it costs on scan.co.uk

scans a fair bit more expensive last time i looked but ill have a butchers now.

To be honest ive always found scan cheaper, customer service is great etc. One thing to bear in mind, scan do offer installation insurance, so if you bugger up your build while your putting it together your covered for a replacement, all the info is there when you process the order before you "comfirm to buy".

Honestly thats prob one of the best things Ive seen them do, ok its extra £££ to spend but in the long run if you do screw up then well you havnt wasted say £150 for i5 mobo.

the insurance is extra and im more than capable of building a rig so if theres any problems i'ld just RMA it as normal

problem is ebuyer are better for somethings price wise than ocuk but its free next day shipping with ocuk due to my forum activity or 5day delivery with ebuyer or i pay for next day. Anyway ill see what happens when i intend to buy end of nov. Ill send them a query like i did for best price on all components and see what they produce.

Everytime I've ordered anything from ebuyer on 5 day its come the next day

I ordered a new mouse at 16:55 one day and it was here at 7am the following day.

When I ordered my new PC bits I rang and spoke to a bloke on the phone and asked for some discount and he gave me loads too.

Katash: can i have discount sir?

Customer service rep: Yes, have loads!

hehe well ill see what happens, last order I had from Ebuyer was building this PC and i had a duff mobo and a duff graphics card in the same delivery. So you can imagine i wasnt overly impressed.

When I tried it 12 months ago I told the guy I was spending about £1000 and was there any chance of discount? - He went through the individual items and knocked certain percentages off each item or knocked VAT off others and gave me free next day delivery.

Alltold I probably saved about £50

.... But when a mate of mine tried it about 2 months ago they flatly refused.

he must have a cushy round!
8pm im getting home these days :(

79 deliveries and 13 collections today
53 of the deliveries were houses (and alot of the area I do is out in the sticks and rural, if somebody isn't in I have to walk down the next mahoosive drive to knock at a neighbours house lol. like Ramsey st some of them)

yup ebuyer dumped shittylink and now its either ParcelForce (48 hours at most) or UPS (everything is next day with UPS)

Lol 'shittylink' is what I used to call them, they are terrible and once they basically lied about attempting a delivery so the guy could knock off early.

One time I went to the rear of the guys van to help him carry the item and witnessed him throwing parcels around the van because he couldnt find the right one.

yeah I see them doing that all the time, especially the city link guys in the old target vans (the 7.5 tonne box van) they really do throw parcels about it's shocking.
UPS vans have shelves in (apart from the 'bulk' vans) so everything is easy to find.
