Greetings all,

On advice from Masaq, I am here to submit my mission for testing with hopes it is ready and meets the quality standards to be hosted on your server.

About the mission:

It is a 14 vs 14 coop in which each side is tasked with attempting to down the enemy's AI recon flight, while protecting their own flight. The secondary objective is to eliminate all enemy aircraft (players only, no AI scouts).

Overall mission time, if recon flights survive, is approximately 40 minutes. The initiation of hostilities should occur within 10 to 15 minutes.

The mission should progress as follows:

Two flights of three craft on each side are positioned to takeoff and climb to the rendezvous point where they will meet up with their recon flights and escort them into enemy air space.

The remaining craft (two flights of three and two flights of two) at the forward aerodrome are to climb to the patrol area and seek out the incoming enemy recon flight.

The recon flight (with escort) will enter enemy airspace at approximately 2000 meters so as to avoid AAA fire (three emplacements along the flight route, and yes they can and have hit the recon planes :)).

Once the recon flights have passed the forward enemy aerodrome they turn for home. About midway over the front the two recon flights pass within 2 kilometers of each other which should present additional conflict opportunities depending on how things have played out up until this point.

Once over friendly airspace the recon flights have an additional 10km flight before they are declared safe and the mission ends.

Additionally, the mission will end earlier when both the primary and secondary objectives have been completed, regardless of which side accomplishes them.

The conditions for success:

The first side to down the enemy recon flight is declared the victor with their primary goal accomplished. The mission continues so as to allow for completion of the secondary objective (down all enemy scouts). The other side can still complete their primary objective but it does not alter their defeat.

Conversely, the first side to down all the enemy scouts is informed of completing their secondary goal (no victor yet) and now are allowed pursue their victory unhindered by opposing players. If they are downed before the recon, or the recon reach their safe zone, the mission ends with no victor.

Least ways that is how it is supposed to go. I have done extensive testing but all of which was done under single player so there is still room for missed errors.

It's been a couple days since I have uploaded this mission and I have had a few views of the post and a couple (potential) downloads, but no feedback.

Just curious to know if the mission is being tested yet. :confused:

Hi. Sorry mate - those of us who play RoF have been busy with work/life for the past few days. Masaq for instance is a medical professional, and is most likely on night shift this week.

I'll get the mission on the server ASAP.

Sorry. Not trying to rush things... just hadn't heard a peep so I wasn't sure what, if anything, was going on with this. As I stated before, I was merely curious to know how things fared with it.

We'll probably need to get players to re-download the fix we published due to Neoqb breaking something with the last patch. I haven't played RoF for a few weeks though, so I don't know if it's still necessary.

Hopefully MadTommy or Masaq can deal with this when they get online.

Last I heard there were still problems with missions not being downloaded correctly so people would have to re-download the missions-zip we created.

There are a couple of other people on various forums with a few missions they're considering donating/trying out on the server, if possible Sensenmann (and epoch) could we hold off a few days more and see if any are forthcoming in the next few days and if so, do a few all at once? Might be worthwhile doing it that way :)

We do appreciate the effort you've gone to and will get it up soon but would be good to save people several downloads... Neoqb need to get 1.007 out the door!


Edit: Actually, my online time would be greater if I were on night shifts at the minute - sadly I'm on an awful lot of Lates, which means I have mornings available when no-one's online and I get home at about 10pm shattered and in need of bed, with just enough energy to check forums but not play :(

I'll sort FTP to the relevant area on the webserver, and you can upload a new zip file if required. All we need to do is update the RoF forum post to say a redownload is required.

It's no problem for me to wait for a few more of the possible mission additions to be included. Makes a lot of sense to wait until there are a number of them in the download.

As far as your current free time, Masaq, I am State side in Colorado (7 hours later than GMT) and find I have a bit too much free time due to the current economic state here (laid off from work and jobs are quite scarce - but I keep looking). Perhaps we could get online for a little one on one. Just let me know what time works for you and I'll see if I can swing it here.

Just wondering if the dawn train mission has been fixed yet? If not I could probably handle that and upload it here as well.

I can easily get the deactivate targets repaired but wont touch the time limit for take off unless it has been decided it should be upped.

If you wanna make that tweak, go ahead - it'd be very good of you :). The mission's creator is our chap who's just had a little bundle of joy delivered by a stork, so he's a tad busy IRL too.

OK here is the fixed dawn train raid mission. Did a quick test of it and it seems to be working just fine now.

Found a potential problem in my original mission where it may have been possible for all the players to have been removed from play and the mission would not finish. That is fixed, plus I added some in game instructions, per the mission objectives, at the start of the mission, just in case the mission description fails to make it client side (such as the current mission set exhibits).

New patch (1.007) and new planes out today. Since the new mission additions to the T&T server have not been distributed, I am thinking of adding these planes to the mission.

What is the maximum number of players in a coop? I may add an additional flight to each side or swap out a flight (like the Nieuport 17 and Albatros D.III perhaps) if I am already at that limit.

And then again, maybe I will leave it as is and just make a new mission utilizing the new plane set and some randomizing objectives (since I have been toying with that).

OK. Newer version with new planes included. Figure the new planes will work well for the task and the server will benefit from having them added to missions.

Now have five flights of three per side, where each flight is one of the currently available planes, bringing it to a 15 vs 15 mission. Have seen 16 vs 16 on other servers so I think this should be OK.

Yeah, 16v16 is the max - game can handle 32 clients.
