The ARMA 2 demo seems to work pretty well on my rig so I want to also see who using ARMA 2 & IR Track 5 and clip?

1. Is IR Track worth the money?
2. Does IR Track really make the game better?

I have seen the Dslyecxi (http://www.youtube.com/user/Dslyecxi) demo it it looks amazing. I know these are subjective questions but I just want a few opinions.

Also, here are my benchmark map values.
- Everything Very High = 17 fps
- Everything High = 20 fps
Are these typical of you other players? No sure it is worth giving up the awesome graphics for 3 fps In game I don't seem to have any lag and I am wondering why fps seems so low. Will I notice any more lag if we are all playing together on a T&T server mission? Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I've got the track IR 5 and clip, and its a nice little peripheral,

It takes some getting used to and a little bit of setup to map out how you want it to react to your headmovements ( stuff like the deadzones and how fast it moves in realtion to how you move )

I'm still not 100% comfortable using it in a infantry firefight, but i think thats down to lack of practice more than anything, where i find it comes into its own is in the air.
Its just so natural to be able to look around quickly and without taking your hands off the controls when manourvering, its great aswell for your spatial awareness when coming into land/taking off, you can really judge your size that much better

I'm getting a little bit of lag with everything on high, but turning down the textures to medium solved that the FPS never reaches over 40 for me and often dips to the mid 20's thats with a 75% usless Quad core @ 2.93Ghz and a 280 GTX

I think i need to keep messing with the settings some more till i find a happy level of graphics and lag but what really annoys me are the sometimes frequent CTDS and more so the texture errors ( fickering screen like artifacts, yet my system is cool ??? nothing appears to be overheating temps are all within normal range, and it strangly still happens with the GPU fan forced to 100% )

Nick

Thanks for the quick response ... I was wondering what you used to see your in-game real time FPS.

Thanks

if it's just for Arma.. i'd say no its not worth it. Unless you play a lot of Arma.
If you enjoy flight sims and maybe some driving games that can use trackir then yes.
I LOVE my track ir.. but i use it for Arma, Black Shark, LockOn and very much looking forward to using it for Rise of Flight. (it also works in Insurgency HL2 mod)
The only game i really play that does not use it is PR. If i didn't play flight sims i wouldn't think its worth it to be honest.
Its good in Arma.. but in Black Shark its fucking amazing! It really shines.

I used to have a mouse button mapped to free look in Arma and found looking around very easy.. sure TrackIr helps and makes it better.. but for me doesn't make a world of difference.

I'm holding out for a free-track crack or something. No way am I paying £100+ for a glorified webcam & piece of software.
Could be waiting a long time... Let's hope someone's on it.
Nice vid =)
