I'm slowly putting together a really basic infantry guide for PR, aimed at people who can pick up weapons, run around in a squad etc - but who want to know how to really play the game properly.

Nothing too complicated - I'm not trying to make a TTP2 for PR or anything - and in nice easy subheadings and bullet points.

It's up here - http://www.realitymod.com/forum/f138-infantry-tactics/62466-masaqs-0-86-infantry-tips.html

Anyone got any preference or further input on what else they'd like to see in there? What kind of thing do you wish players would do more often without having to actually sit down and explain it to them, Sadist-Cain-Duckling-style? :)

Well theres some good stuff in there already. Good for Cain's and mine training meetings as well.

I loved things like: If you see as quad mate looking north, look somewhere else. People do that far to little.

Maybe add something like; Think for the team, if you see a squad pushing to an dug in position, help 'm out.

Sorta like you did with the if someones looking at A, you look at B. Make people try to find weak spots and fill those spots. thats something pr players are missing. Just like people looking at the medic whos healing them instead of covering the medic.

EDIT: Good additions since I last read it. The VOIP and grenade parts :) Maybe you could put a line in the VOIP part where it states: As the medic, inform who you are going to revive and if comm's allow (not cluttered by firefight stuff) talk to the casualty's. Let them know your coming for them so they dont give up.

Or make a medic part or shall I try to wip one up here?

Medic is on my list of bits to add - along with marksman and squad leader. Pretty much know what I'm saying for them, just updating it little by little :)

Yeah, VOIP still needs padding out some more.

Definitely the squad strategy rather than tatics might be worth adding - will consider that towards the end methinks. Cheers!

Alright cool cool! Well its a great guide in the making I'd say! Something people kinda must read next to the manual.

Masaq.. read your guide...its good (wish i was able to sleep past 06:00 instead.. )

Two things i think need to be added... which are very common mistakes in PR:

Under voip usage: All guides concentrate on 'broadcast' techniques with voip. And what they generally miss out on is the 'receive' part, which actually I think is almost more important.

Basically.. Listen to what you squad mates say, this is especially important for squad leaders. The number of times I've seen the rest of my squad wiped out because they have not heard/understood or simply ignored a voip warning i have given, is more than numerous. Or the SL issues an order that shows he has clearly not regarded or understood a message you have just passed them. This normally occurs because of two reason:

Firstly; the SLs & other members getting 'target fixation'. They see a target or have an objective in mind and nothing else is important. This causes them to ignore or disregard any other information coming in. All information should be considered, ignored maybe.. but considered. This is often the cause of squad disharmony... there is nothing worse in my book than being led by a squad leader who has their brain only set to broadcast and never receive. Faith is quickly lost in their leadership.

Secondly: The info is unclear or muffled by battlefield noise or voip quality. Assuming squad members are using good radio discipline, if a message is unclear; ask for confirmation.. don't go; well that didn't make mush sense so I'll just ignore it. Ask for clarification of unclear messages... it just amazes me how often this is not done to the detriment of the squad.
The above may sound obvious... but my god its often not carried out in battle.

The second point that should come under General Tips, and is mentioned above; is Target Fixation.

This has many elements and is hard to sum up briefly. It is also connected to your mentioned fields of view.. 360 arc & suppressive fire. Squad all too often get fixated upon a single target, this can be fatal.. but the problem is that it can also be very effective. There is nothing better than having 6 guns quickly 'dealing' with a threat. But at the same time there can be nothing worse than 6 guns all facing the same way. Squad Leaders need to manage this. If a target cannot be removed by 6 guns quickly, some of those guns must disengage and cover other arcs and threats. Understandably people are very reluctant to break from a target or threat, this is target fixation, and it is a classic for getting your squad wiped out by a flanking manoeuvre.

These are two elements i think your guide could cover or mention..:)

Good suggestions, and yeah very relevant... more succinctly describes what I was going for wrt maintaining 360' vision. :)

Will add to the list.
