lo,

Looking to add some more RAM to my system. Currently have 2x256mc pc2700 dimms with one spare slot. Is it possible to run ram of different speeds together, ie say I bought a 512mb pc3200 dimm, would it be able to run alongside my pc2700 dimms if the pc3200 was on one channel and the pc2700 dimm on the other? and also, would my PC benefit from the 400mhz ram as my processor has an fsb of 333mhz?

No you can't mix ram of different speeds, it go boom or worse just won't work.
When adding ram you need to make sure it's all the same PC 2700, 3200 etc and fsb. Getting ram of 400mhz won't work properly with a chip fsb of 333 so theres no point so no it wouldn't benefit.

If you're buying new ram, you may aswell got for two 512 or 1gig PC3200 333mhz sticks and then you can add another one later on.

Remember mixing ram is BAD, very bad, especially when you fit it unside down like my mate did on my old machine and then we watched the smoke riase form my chip and board :) was very funny, but not for him as he had to fork out for a new board and chip and ram

Unless of course the RAM is the Male Go4T variety in which case I deffinitely recommend mixing it with the biggest fecker you can find. Make sure you file his horns down a bit with a large carpenters rasp as they do tend to get caught in yer wellies on occasion.

F34R my Go4T
