Hey people!

Im always wanted to learn some kind of 3d modeling program so I could model stuff for games and mods. Now that I had a day off, I started modeling using tutorials. I wanted to have a go at a simple round-about guard house tower thingy that the dutch forces mod needed.

Its not anything high profile but made up off very basic shapes so I could try modeling it. Not much to go wrong with yet in my oppinion. But maybe the more experienced modelers already see some mistakes

Heres what I got so far.

I decided to leave out one ledge to make the model lighter and less annoying in game (We all know the sidewalk ledges in Fallujah)

Thanks :) No its in Maya. But yesterday I found out its probably better to switch to max. I need to work on windows anyway if I want to test and import my models in to the battlefield 2 editor. So might as well go max what most people use and that has some battlefield 2 tools in handy.

So this will probably be as far as I go on this version in maya:

Heres a render with a light and some basic textures on it

And the start of the windows:

This took me half a day I reckon. And an hour or two more with the tutorial that learned me the tool to make something like this. Learnt if a monitor model tutorial :)

So now Im gonna redo this in 3dsmax. First I have to get my set-up ready. Clear some space on my windows partition, than instal max and photoshop and try some tutorials to learn the basic modeling in max.

Thanks :) Well today I might start doing some 3dsmax tutorials since modeling for BF2 can only be done on a windows set-up and 3dsmax has the best bf2 tools. So now I have to get my hands on 3dsmax and some basic tutorials so I can built this tower again haha

If I can ever pull it off I could make T&T base or structure for in a map somewhere :P Or hide a T&T banner on a structure somewhere.
