View Full Version : WEBSITE UPGRADE IMMINENT

I will shortly be upgrading the website software. We're using an old version of VBulletin which has been superceded. The new version fixes a lot of bugs, security holes, and adds some new features.
Hopefully we'll be able to give the site a fresh new look too, and add some cool server monitors etc.
There is a risk, however, that we could lose everything!! The database behind the website is constantly sending me emails saying it's unwell, so I'm not sure how it'll cope with an upgrade. But, we're at the point where we simply have to try and see.
After the upgrade, the site will look pretty basic. Standard blue/white colour scheme etc. We'll then start work on a new theme, graphics etc.
Please bear with us whilst we carry out the upgrade, and expect some periodic downtime.

New features to boot as well!
I know a thing or two about webdesign and building them so if you need help on some stuff (to lighten your workload or speed up the process) let me know :)
Too bad if we lose the database though. But with database you mean members signed up right? If "thats all" than Id post a news-message explaining it all on the main-site as well.
And will we still keep the intro movie? I say we take this oppertunity to remove that as well. I can see that a lot of work went in but I learned at school that the skip-rate is way higher than people who actually watch it. The rebounce rate is higher on websites with intro's as well. (at least thats what the books said ;) )
And my previous offer still stands ;)

Yea that hope & change thing doesn't seem to be working out so well ... perhaps instead we should just throw trillions of pounds at it and see if the site looks new ... ;-) *sarcasm*
