Hey guys just asking for some recomendations or advice on buying a new router.
Im going to be replacing a BT home hub.
The reason is quite simple it just wont let me do certain things online.
An example would be constant NAT negotation failures with the likes of COH.
I already have two condidates lined up
a BT voyager 2110 Here
a Netgear DG834 Here (http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=2SR0&CategorySelectedId=11177&PageMode=1&NavigationKey=11177,4294960269,4294960268,50110000 ,4294952719,4294963789)
Any other recomendations or advice would be apprciated.
Thanks

Have you tried enabling UPNP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UPNP) and/or setting static IP's?
In my case setting these conditions enable my router/modem to detect listening ports and forward the data to the appropriate PC.
My Utorrent for example is set to listen on a random port, without UPNP I have to set a manual forwarding rule to a set port, with UPNP it detects port forwarded every time, same with limewire.
As far as the 2 modems you've found are concerned, I personally would go for the Netgear one as I've had 2 different BT modems and found they were both shit (Voyager 205 & Voyager 220v)

Well i have tried numerous things and im not sure if any are what you have said though.
Does either of these involve port fowarding and DMZ?

No, when you run CoH you set up certain outbound connections on specific ports, the router detects these and knows when the data comes back on that port it has to forward it to the originating PC, applications also require 'listening connections' - These obviously are listening for data to come inbound, when your router recieves this data from the internet it doesnt know where to pass it to unless you set a 'Port Forward' rule ... This tells the router "If I(router) recieve a connection on port 1234 it has to go to 'dooms-PC'"
Problem here is you cant tell it to go to 'Dooms-PC' youve got to tell it to go to the specific IP of your computer, if you dont have static IP's set up for your local network this will cause problems.
To re-itterate your outbound connections get passed onto the router and appropriate ports opened but 'listening ports' do not get passed on.
UPNP is a way of allowing this, your PC will pass data containing details of listening ports onto the router which in turn will set up automatic forwarding rules then remove them when not needed (You wont actually be able to see these rules as they are not the same as manually setting port forwarding)
Static IP's are not required for this to work but they are a good idea anyway if your local network consists of more than 1 PC.
You can check it works by finding out what listening ports CoH requires via google then start a game, go here (http://www.utorrent.com/testport.php?port=47397) and substitute the port number, it will tell you if the port is forwarded correctly.
If for whatever reason UPNP in not a valid option for you you'll have to set static IP's and manual forwarding rules for all required CoH ports - that is usually a guaranteed fix but can be a pain in the ass.
UPNP should be an 'on/off' option in your modem/router config pages.
If you need any help PM me and I'll talk you through it (working 6pm-6am tho)
