As you all know I just got ArmA as well and a noobie but I was wondering if someone could set up and ArmA addon/map requirements and game settings thread that is locked with a running list so that no comments can be added.

I for one get confused when the comments are piled on. :confused:

Hope to see you guys on the server soon. Perhaps this weekend. Can't seem to catch anyone late with the time zone difference during the week.

I just wanted give you a big THANKS for stickying the important stuff for ArmA.

Thought I finally had everything but now I got to get the stuff for Operation Al-Fajr - UKF. LOL

The UK stuff isn't too impressive. Some of the weapons look crap, and the Javelin is simply suicide. The Puma and Lynx do look nice though, as do the Land Rovers, and Brit Uniforms.

The weapons are very,very old . They were made almost as soon as Arma came out and it seems no one has bothered to remake them and instead just uses these sub standard models. The fact that the SA80 just uses whatever sound if currently your M4 sound is a good example of how unfinished the weapons are.

Its all very "beta", with limited kit and some poor finish. Would still be a good crack with all of us on it though.

Some bad points:
- UGL is bizarre - the grenades blow up after about 10 seconds and not on impact!
- Sniper rifles look crap.
- Muzzle flash in 3d person looks like a comic.
- Zoom looks odd as either end is still visible if using widescreen.
- Javelin is a joke, you have to aim up 45 degrees or you blow yourself and everything up.
- Gunner seat on Lynx has the wierdest sights.
- Seemingly no smoke grenades.
- Limited amount of weapons.

Official Epoch Verdict: Crap

Don't bother with the UK stuff for now.

DO download the RKSL stuff though - they're very good and I'm sure we can beg Will to do something with them! The RKSL cargo system (http://www.rkslstudios.info/projects/functions-a-systems/cargo-system.html) looks amazing.

The thing with the British stuff is that these are the old UKF weapons that were made for Operation Flashpoint, ported over to Armed Assault. They are serving as a place holder untill UKF actually releases their proper weapon pack. But they seem to have decided to go the way of ACE and only release their stuff untill they have everything they want ready.
