Afternoon !

Been doing some forum surfing!

Adam: Remove all XEH addons (Extended Event Handlers). ACE has its own unique versions. This should allow you to heal/revive others.

Medics: General rule for unconsious & bleeding is: Epinephrine (Epipens to you PR'ers ;)) - Bandage - Morphine.

Will add more if I find it. Feel free to add other suggestions !

Could the XEH be causing the problem whereby one spawns as a seagull when connecting to the server. Happened to Will last night, and me this afternoon.

I was going to post a question in the Domination thread on the flashpoint1985.com forums, but I haven't received my login details yet (you have to email and request an account!!).

If anyone else has an account over there, perhaps you could report this possible bug ?

I have an idea as to why that was happening, for me at least. When i was trying to spawn as a part of Bravo or charlie it wouldn't let me. However i could spawn as part of Alpha. Is it possible that Each fireteam has to be filled before you can spawn as a member of another?

Could be Epoch, I'd just advise everyone to delete all XEH addons (move them to a folder on the desktop when using ACE ;))

EPINEPHRINE UPDATE ! *I refuse to call it/them EpiPens ! :p*

When examining someone, unless it says they need epinephrine, it has no use whatsoever. I'm unsure as to whether the same applies to morphine, unable to produce a message asking for morphine yet !

Will get a video up tomorrow. Got to install Sony Vegas, Movie Maker saves in stupidly low resolutions & none of them are widescreen :(

I got shot and got a message on my menu saying to give myself morphine. There was also a message for bandages (I was shot real bad).

I was carrying both, which is why I got those messages.

I took both.

CoOP missions to try using ACE

To play this you need ACE and Avgani island (http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=3525) 161MB (Make an @ folder, with an 'Addons' inside that then place ALL the files in there together)

To play this you need ACE and ACE Island Pack (http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=3000) 408MB (Runs an .exe and installs to an @ folder)

Personally I'm using Arma Launcher and will start up running @ACE, @ACE Island Pack, and @Avgani Village. Should all work fine and dandy!

Ah ha! Got it working now, i hadn't got the files in the folder in a folder named Addons.

Got it sorted. The only problem i had when i first tried joining was using the launcher and then i'd forgotten to put two files in the thingy folder after downloading them

Then of course my family decided it was time to go out and i was enjoying that mission so much aswell!

Op Countenance is a but shit so prob wont play that after all. May as well still download the islands map pack though as it'll likely be needed for other missions.

Although we're not using the ACE Island Pack yet, we probably will once there's some good missions for it.

Something everyone needs to do after installing ACE Islands though:

Navigate to your @ACE-Islands folder
Copy the file ace_island_rvmat.pbo into the @ACE-Islands\addons folder
Navigate into the @ACE-Islands\addons folder
Move the file ace_island_rvmat_dta.pbo out of @ACE-Islands\addons and into the folder above (ie into the main @ACE-Islands folder)This is to ensure all clients have the same ground textures, which should improve performance. If you don't carry out the procedure above, the server won't let you join.

Have any of you checked the maps in that pack yet ?

Sure, they're mostly OFP ones, but theres not much in terms of quality :(

If you like maps with one sigle texture, a few dotted trees & a few randomly placed buildings (If you're lucky ... some are just those big desert ones with sweet f**k all on them ...)

They may play out well for some missions, but they're just such a pain to look at :(
I havent found one decent one in the lot.

You may think different, but thats my opinion right there. No flame please :)

I had wondered I must admit. When we looked at a mission last night the map itself did look a bit shit.

The default ArmA islands, and the Avgani/Afghan Village maps look far superior. Still - it's worth installing ACE Islands just in case someone comes up with something interesting.

Atleast it makes you rather more cautious when crossing big open spaces ! :p

I think its pretty good on single spawn! If we all get on one night and attempt it together *i.e all of us who have ArmA, and anyone else you want to bring. (Finch, bondy?)* and play it till last man standing. Then switch to a mission such as the Insurgency style one?

Yeah they're mostly empty, but from what I remember the maps were made that way so mission makers could add their own stuff, like towns and roads etc etc. Which takes up an enormous ammount of time. Moreso if you wan't it to look good.

Server locked again Vilhelm!

We can consider opening it up again when I've figured out the connection lag issues, and optimum bandwidth config. Patch 1.15 is supposed to address some aspects of connection lag - a possible test we can look at in the coming days.

thanks for the offer - I had 10 mins before everyone arrived for the new years eve bash yesterday so thought I would download the mods and see if I could get on the server - FAIL !

when I downloaded the avgani mod, it had everything in separate folders - do I need to extract the pbo files etc into the addons folder, or is it ok to have them in the separate folders as a subfile of the Addons folder?

ie ARMA/@avgani/Addons/Avgani village/Avgani.pbo

or should it be

ARMA/@avgani/Addons/Avgani.pbo

I copied all those p3d files into @Avgani\addons. I also, for good measure, put the mLOD folder into @Avgani\addons, complete with the p3d files. All seems ok for me.

tip for anyone else as stupid as me - you should have no folders in your /addon folderm just the files themselves (god knows why the download/zipfile has all the files in separate folders !)

Thats what I thought, why make it harder than it needs to be. I read one readme for the install notes, and it said "You know the drill... bla bla". No I dont, fucking tell me!!!

As you can see there is a huge difference, this is also reflected in A.C.E Mod to good effect.

Just like to add, if i may.
The current 5.56 "tumbles" through the air, when it hits it will richochet through a body etc. Designed to main and wound based on that it will take one or two people to carry the wounded person out therefore lessening enemy forces. Absolute crock i know but hey ho that was the thinking.

7.62x51 spins or barrel rolls through the air which means, sometimes an enemy would carry on going not knowing he was hit unless it hit a vital organ.
They also go through walls rather well :D

Forgot to mention, 7.62 NATO is similar in size and power to the wwII era '30 cals' (.303 UK forces / 30-06 USA forces) .... One apparent effect witnessed from these hard hitting rounds was a strike in a non critical area of the chest / abdomen often produced a shock wave that traveled into nearby vital organs and caused them to rupture, Youtube has some interesting high speed videos of these bullets fired into ballistic gel

and as gunny mentioned one of the design requirements was to be able to punch through walls!

since most people are familar with .50 cals the relevent equivilents are below

7.62x51 = .308 Winchester - the .308 is a civilian version that is practically identicall to the military 7.62 just has different case thickness

5.56x45 = .223 (closest match) In the UK this round is a common fox round but can also be used for deer (Not ideal tho imho)
