first negative experience in T&T

Hey guys,

not a rant just want to explain or ask something. Why is it that if your trying to be helpfull by explaining some guy trough chat something you get booted?

This guy in our squad joined in as a medic. Tried to be helpfull by healing up wounded players. we just said in a normal way: try not to heal the same one up as the other medic is doing.

He responded with saying: if its like that fine. Why even bother.

He left. Me and another guy out of our squad started to use the team chat (as he left our squad) to explain what we meant because he thought we didnt want him as a medic.

He didnt get the point so after I explained 3/4 times Heskey starts telling us to shut it and play or get booted. I was only trying to explain this tactic to someone so he knows it for future games.

I always thought T&T was about likeminded players who like to use tactics and stuff. Guess teaching other people isnt one thing.

The "discussion" as Heskey was calling it was also coming to a close. We both said our final words and shut it. But if Im not even allowed to teach someone something over teamchat than its fine with me. Ill leave myself. (too bad I was to slow on my alt-f4 skills. Looks like Heskey beat me to it)

Now some of you may know me from the PR forums and may also know that I only play on your's and TG server. So I really hope you dont see this is as the typical: OMG WHY DID I GOT BANNED thread. I guess Im just a bit disapointed at this attitude.

Well i'll let Heskey respond.

But we encourage teaching new players. And if things were as you describe them.. well i'm sorry, it doesn't seem like the right response for one of our server admins.

We certainly do not have any policy against teaching players the ropes.. in fact its the opposite.. so i'm not sure what to say.

I'm sure Heskey will explain things from his side.

I understand. It seems that Heskey thought we where having some sort of argument. And the guy we where trying to explain to was all hotheaded like: Well at least I dont build a firebase in plain sight of dam!

So that might be the reason why Heskey thought we where having an argument instead of explaining why we said that and what we meant.

One more time to be crystal clear about this (forum stuff, english not native language) the guy thought we where calling him newb or something while we explained what we meant.

What I saw was far from a one-to-one intuition on how to play; for starters I know DDS Dark Dirk Steel isn't new to the mod and doesn't have trouble grasping the game mechanics, so I call bogus on that one.

It was at least a 10 minute long verbal altercation over teamchat in which neither of you appeared to be 'learning', just hurling abuse at each other about your tactics.

After 10 minutes of watching the screen filling up with this, and a call from a few other individuals for you both to shut up, I called an end to it since you both seemed incapable of doing so.

You both continued. Fair is fair; next one to say a word on the matter gets the boot so the rest of us can game in peace. Rather than leave it at that, you saw fit to spout out the last word before quitting - If you want to leave, do it quietly; don't hurl verbals from a distance and hottail it. On that basis I gave you the boot, because trying to be a smartarse before fleeing just isn't cricket.

You've not been banned and there are no hard feelings. If you feel this was an issue warranting signing up to the forums and complaining about, I apologise for any inconvenience I may have caused you tonight - But in future if someone calls for an end to what is essentially chatspam, please adhere to it.

From my point of view I didnt sound like the ass? or agitated like he was. I disagree with you altough I understand your point. The bigdeal with me was that I thought you guys wanted a friendly server and stuff so I signed up for that (I also was under the impression I had an account seeing I made a recruit thread once) because T&T and TG are the only servers I play on. The "feel" on your server always is nice so to exaggerate: My "dream" kinda shattered by this thing.

Seeing the reply's from the others explaining that in fact that is what they want its all fine and dandy :) It seems that you and I have a different oppinion over what happened this evening but thats no biggy. Like you said: It was only a boot. I just came on here to check thats all.
