hey T&T

i joined your server the first time yesterday with my account Der_Chefkoch.91 and was kicked and baned for 2min couse of a "bad name" though i can't see any bad word or meaning in my nickname. the nick is german and it simply means: The_head chef.
so can you tell me why i got kicked?

Ok.. i'll look into this.

Yesterday we moved/upgraded our servers... i dont have full access to the new server right now. And this may be an error on the new box.

I'll look into it, but there is not much i can do this morning... but i'll get back to you asap.

Regards Tommy

Hi Chefkoch.91

I see from the PB logs you were kicked three times. You connected with the following names:

Salat! Chefkoch_1337
Salat! Der_Chefkoch.91

Unfortunately, the exclamation mark '!' is what caused the badname kick. In order to minimise the risk of people using name hacks to crash the server we run a very tight PB configuration. Various characters are on the badname list, including '!'.

You'll need to remove that character in order to join the server.

ah okay
i thought my name was the reason so i tried out different nicks and wondered why i still got kicked. without the exclamation mark it works as usual now.
thanks to tommy and epoch for the fast reply =)

Lol no. I use the badname tool to prevent server crashes, not to protect people's sensitivities.
