Thought that we should really get a thread rather than spam the shoutbox with ArmA messages.
Use this thread to keep everyone updated and post any significant achievements in our ArmA campaign here so as our other ArmA players will not miss what has been happening if they are MIA from the campaign to free Sahrani for any period of time.
Going to open it with the messages Katash and I left in the shoutbox tonight, plus a little 'set the scene' of my own. Feel free to add as more events unfold. I plan on writing up whats been happening every few days in the style of a kind of newspaper report just purely because i want to and i'm an utter nerd :up:

Corazol captured by American forces.
At around 21.00hours on 5/11/2008 Corazol was successfully liberated on behalf of the people of South Sahrina from the military forces of the Russian funded Democratic Republic Of Sahrani (more commonly known as the SLA). The American forces are based largely at the Paraiso airstrip in central South Sahrina but they have been in the process of expanding their foothold to inculde a number of FARPS and FOBs as well. The fighting in the city has taken over two days and the battle has been intense, with a number of artillery and precision air strikes being called in by the American forces in an attempt to dislodge the SLA defenders. The battle has seen a number of different forces deployed to the area including a number of helicopter, tank and infantry assaults, a number of which were repelled by the fanatical SLA defenders. The changing point in the battle was when troops managed to cut the enemy communication leaving the SLA's air support unable to provide support within the city itself for fear of hitting their own side, and seriously delaying reinforcements from arriving. While also allowing USMC cobras to fly in undetected and provide close air support for the troops on the ground.
Non-combatant casualties are expect to be almost none due the cities civilians have largely fled to the also newly liberated city of Paraiso (the capital city of South Sahrina). American forces are thought to have suffered a large number of loses as well largely thought to be because of the large number of attack aircraft and helicopters that the SLA are employing to attack American convoys around the islands (this has included a number of attacks against the American base itself). One American Major has been infamously quoted as having said 'what the f**k is that!?' before his vehicle was hit by Ka attack helicopter cannon fire.
American troops in the area are at this time engaged in the process of salvaging damaged equipment from the battlefield and the rounding up of prisoners before the expected attack against Somato in the coming days.
And with the arrival of more equipment on the scene for the American forces, such as M1A1's and A10 ground attack aircraft, you can be sure that the fight will be a bloody one.

Broadcast from Sharani Radio 1 news :- The town of Corazol has been liberated by western forces - Sources say the Russian occuping forces have suffered heavy casualties including many T72's, BMP2's and BDRM's.....Indications are that the Russians are preparing the Southern town of Somato for a heavy western assault.....A high ranking Western officer has been quoted as saying 'Everyone on TS now!' .... We as yet are unsure what this military term means.

Message to all USMC troops stationed in grid Gamma Echo five eight move back to outpost X-ray in grid Gamma Alpha six zero and prepare for prisoners....Command Advises troops to be aware that some prisoners are suspected to be suicidal, downed pilots in particular.
