View Full Version : Help wanted: Router types
Lookign for a router so the wife can connect to the internet without going through my pc and lagging me out.
Have heard that an ethernet router is the best way to as both cards have lan mobos.
I have a 1meg ADSL pipe.
1 - Is ethernet a good way to go?
2 - what types of routers are good
3 - Need value for money (the cheaper the better)
Ta
30 - 40 tops preferably towards the 30 squid mark with a couple of oysters
Oh and type/make.
ADSL modem type :)
I have had a look at routers at various computer shops etc, but can't make head or tail of em tbh.

TBH i havent a clue with routers either ..
so me and sash still fooked with going thru his pc.. for connections
Sorry Nat, but for that budget I wouldn't even bother. Anything you get for that price is unlikely to impress. Possible issues could be lack of support for the chipset (so no firmware upgrades if problems occur), problems with MSN Messenger, dropped/slow connection etc.
You need around £100 for something useable.
My opinion though.
Bugger.
Ok for that amount then?. I just need types and names of makes really, then i'll decide on how urgently i need one
