IRC Channel

I was on the #clanmkp IRC channel yesturday and had a laugh with a few people.
I was amazed to see that people other than clanmkp were using the channel.

Don't forget everyone that the IRC channel facility is there and available for all users and is an excellent way for people to file share Huge files via the DCC method.

I personally like IRC and use it quite often and would like to see many more of the clan using it for chatting and stuff.

Using IRC is simple once the settings are done and once connected to the channel there is virtually no ping latency if you decide to play games online whilst still connected.

I recommend Mirc (vers 6.16 current) from here Mirc download page (http://www.mirc.com/get.html) and installing it. It can be quite complicated to setup if you are completely new to the subject but by reading the setup guide you should not have any problems.

IRC also allows users to setup there own File servers for all users to upload or download files. There are lots of channels that allow the download of applications, mp3's and movies. Just get the channel listing for that server and scout around.

Anyway , just thought I would let you know that IRC exists and we have our own channel on Quakenet called #clanmkp.

Get IRC installed and get chatting.

I know that IRC mkp channel exists but i'm a mega noob about IRC.
So i have to read forums and setup guides in order to be able to use it.
Wait for 2 or 3 years and i will be here !!! ;)

i've got irc and have logged in a few times.


once me n nat decided in msn to move to irc and chatted in there.

every other occasion i've been in the only other person i've seen in there is epoch.

so to be honest i dont always bother loggin in as its just more resources to drained from my pc that i'm getting no use for.

i think irc is a fantastic place as we can have clan chats in there, ra6ther than the 1 on 1's we have in msn.

with the problems we seem to be having lately as a clan, maybe we should ALL put the effort in to log on to irc and maybe we can avoid situations by discussing whatever problems we are having.

I agree with Saint maybe we should try and push again for the clan to talk on IRC. It actually doesn't use many resources to run MIRC in the background TBH. Ping latency is only affected when there are lots of people on the channel chatting all the time.

I also looked into a IRC chat php script that can be shown and used on the front page of the web site so people can see who is on the IRC channel. I shall speak to wes about it and see if it can be incorporated into the web site. As currently the only way for users to chat with each other when on the website is via the shoutbox or a PM. Not the best means.

MSN is so passe' when trying to carryout multiple chatts, and have you seen how much resource time and processes that uses. My MSN messenger is completely removed and all the services attached to it.

If people are worried about paying for the relevant programmes then there are hundreds of serials available for Mirc for instance cough* cough*. I personally use trillian but have used Mirc with great success.

On the note that whenever anybody goes into the channel and it's empty... errrr some of us have work and social lives to maintain as well as our online life ! I will when appropriate leave my pc connected to the channel even though it may mean I am AFK.

Epoch, The TS server is used for a completely different thing , voice chat and that's it.

IRC can be used for a multitude of things and doesn't even compare to TS.

I don't know why you even go down that road.

I "went down that road" because in your last post you extolled the virtues of being able to do multiple chats etc.

Teamspeak allows that.

I make no comment on file sharing etc.
