Hearts of Iron 2

Anyone play Hearts of Iron 2? Brilliant WWII strategy game and was just thinking it'd be really good to get a few people online playing together, so thought I'd put it out there :D

Not that i know of, legally ;)

There is a demo, but iirc its not a great one as its more of a "scenario" so most of the map is blacked out and dont get the whole scope of the game. Battle of the Bulge I think it was.

Found some game stores that offer this as a download - will have a look at it after this weekend....

I've played it a fair bit, along with the doomsday expansion. It's a nice interesting strategy game, and not at all easy like most strategy games. The only shame is really is that all units are of similar quality and strength for all nations. So no very powerful tanks for the Germans or impressive ships for the Brits. The plus side is of course you can play any nation like you wanted it though.

I would say that isn't true at all. Its easy to research an area sooner and have an advantage (might hinder your research elsewhere but is possible)

I've often gone Germany and made sure I have better tanks before advancing, or better planes when the Brits.

Oh no I meant of comparable tech level. So a tech level 3 German tank is equal to a Japanese tech level 3 tank. Though I have heard of people going through the long and difficult task of making a mod that gives each nation different values for all the vehicles to more accurately represent what they were like in comparison to their counterparts.
