Ok - No baseraping rule reasons are obvious but it creates a bit of a grey area on the definition,

Camping the base and shooting people as they spawn ...........[x]
Camping the base and destroying vehicles ............................[x]
Using a Jet to bomb a main base's assets .............................[?]
Using a jet to destroy a main base runway ...........................[?]What is the acceptable standard on this?

its generaly easier to say no to it all then nobody can complain

The only type of troops allowed near an enemy's base are Engineers or Spec Ops as they have the means to blow up assests such as bunkers etc.

Sitting outside in a vehicle or sniping away as people spawn is classed as base raping.

Hope that's clear :D

love bullet points!Wat Gunny said - spec ops/engineer only - & then only to destroy assets!

Even then they should comlete their mission in a defensive maner - ie only shoot in self defence & not spawn kill.

In the absence of an admin please warn any offenders & get a screenie!

And to using a bomber to destroy an enemy's runway ?

Viglen

I think it *was* allowed before, we had a rather large discussion about it.

It came up as a server message - No baserape allowed except specops etc.
Aircraft only to attack runways & fixed AA

Is this still in force epoch ? Or is it a spec op, engi only rule now ?

Viglen

Nope

its to hard to manage it all so nothing attacks main spawn areas accept spec ops / enginner on a mission to destroy commander assets

Wat Viglen said - in an ideal world this would be allowed - unfortunately not on a public PR server.....!

We tried it, failed - so have found a compromise that works & is strictly enforced!

Any sort of jet attacks on the main base aren't allowed because they never just aim for the assets or the runway.

iirc jets are allowed run to home attacks, whereby if they're engaged in fighting an enemy then they can pursue them into the confines of their base to eliminate that enemy ONLY

Spec ops + Engineers are allowed to blow up anything apart from people and vehicles at the base and no mines imo

Confirmed. No attack on mainbase of any type except covertly by specops/engineers.

I'd like to have seen jets attacking fixed AA and runways, but it's just too hard to police. For those that moan, we just say that in RL the airbases are rarely in the theatre of action.

Ta for the clarification,

AFAIK most main bases are covered by an out-of-bounds death situation - Kashan for example where nothing other than aircraft is allowed in - so that would also rule out spec-ops/eng's also.

Dunno about other maps

is it coded to ignore spec-ops/eng's?

Sadist_Cain
03-02-08, 12:33
No they'll still get the dome of death.... However it does aid some clarification in that jets can only do a flyby attack on what they were/are pursuing

The Kashan Dome of death explains what happens there anyhow

not wishing to drag this thread out longer than it needs to be but consider if an enemy deploys their CP inside a main base, the dome of death would rule out any possibility of a spec-ops or engineer from destroying it, obviously a ranged tank attack would be ruled out, that only really leaves a soflam & air unit pairing as a solution - but as thats against rules

also consider the situation (although very unlikley) that the enemy deploys a bunker in their main base and refuses to leave the base, no-one could be legally engaged and their bunker will generate tickets.

Forget last post - any sort of concessions would create room for "I didn't know"'s

Gunwitch
03-02-08, 13:06
Good points Katash. I've seen and been told the commander is setting a bunker in the main base just to generate tickets.

i think this is a piss take to be honest, because it turns a viable target into a non-viable target within the domes of death.

SargeBanner

Now, in this situation, I would say that a HAT attack on that bunker only (the original one musn't be touched)

But its not my say :(

Unless we enforce a "No bunkers in death zone" rule, but then people may start complaining about the amount of rules ?

Jeez, I've just realised how difficult admining in PR is ... BF2 was just making sure no one was hacking !

basrah has the death count thing if you go int the airport but if you drive fast enough you can get a car bomb between the challangers or the warriors or what ever takes your fancy =P

Correct me if I'm wrong but the ticket revenue for bunkers/FB's has been withdrawn in 0.7 I believe - no issues with assets in main then!

Rules are clear - even if the enemy does sit the whole round in the uncappable main - would be a quick win for the opposing team if they did!

As Katash says, no point in drawing this thread out - there are no what if's - just clear rules!

thedoombringer0
03-02-08, 13:29
no the ticket revenue is still there

The extra things you mention Katash are covered by our unwritten 'taking the piss' rule. As such, the offenders would be kicked for being stupid selfish fuckwits.

Exactly, That's our job when the lines become blurred and grey. We're there to set things straight and not have things go crappy e.g.

we'd probably "arrange" for said bunker to be taken out
